Matched funding
Many employers offer a matched funding scheme. This is where they either donate a fixed amount towards your target or match the amount you’ve raised. So first, talk with your HR department and find out if this is something your employer does. If not, you could always ask them to make a one-off donation.
Help from colleagues
Your colleagues might be able to help you with sponsorship, spreading the word or volunteering at your event. So send out the emails, make the most of your intranets, notice boards and newsletters to tell everyone what you’re doing. You could set up a blog, hold smaller events at work and ask your colleagues to be involved.
Support from suppliers
You could also ask to approach your company’s suppliers – printers, stationers, candlestick makers – your company will be a valued client for them too, so they might be keen to help.
Company sponsorship
What about approaching a company to sponsor your event? You get extra funds and they get the benefit of positive publicity. If you need more reasons why it’s a great idea, we can send you some Macmillan leaflets explaining our work so that potential sponsors can see how their money will be spent.
