What is HYROX?

It consists of a rotating circuit, where participants run 1km, complete 1 functional workout station, and repeat 8 times.

You can read about the full details of the workout here.

Yes, participants run 1km between each functional exercise.
The running course leads around the workout stations. Depending on location, athletes may run multiple laps to complete one km. The running track and individual workout stations are clearly separated from one another.
-
Where and when does HYROX take place?
HYROX is a global fitness race with events in over 11 countries and 30 cities. Events are scheduled throughout the year and usually take place in large indoor exhibition halls.
To find a HYROX event near you, visit the Find My Race page on the HYROX website.
-
Do I need to train specifically for HYROX?
While HYROX is designed to be a Fitness Race for Every Body, it is still important to train in strength and endurance.
To find out more on how to train specifically for HYROX, please visit the event preparation page on their website. HYROX recommend that you train in a HYROX partner gym where possible.
To find a Partner Gym, you can use HYROX’s Partner Gym Finder.
-
What are the different divisions?
Open – take on the standard HYROX for a challenging but achievable race for everyone.
Pro – for the experienced racer, heavier weights make for a more challenging experience.
Doubles – find a partner and take on the challenge as a pair, running together but splitting the workload of the exercises.
Relay – come together with your friends or family and race the relay where each member of the team does 2 times 1 km and 2 workouts.
To find the right division for you complete this questionnaire!
We have Macmillan places in the open and doubles divisions, but you can register to join Team Macmillan in any division. Simply click the ‘I have my own place’ button.
How to register FAQs
-
How can I register for HYROX?
To register for a HYROX event, please visit the HYROX website and select ‘buy tickets’ under your chosen event.
There are two ways to fundraise for Macmillan through HYROX. You can either register for a Macmillan charity place, which comes with a minimum fundraising pledge, or you can choose to use an existing general entry ticket to fundraise for Macmillan. To register a general entry ticket with Team Macmillan, please visit the relevant event page under ‘HYROX Events’ above, and select ‘I have my own place’.
If you sign up for a Macmillan charity place, entry is £64 with a fundraising pledge of £400 excluding gift aid. If you sign up for a Macmillan doubles charity place, entry is £62 with a fundraising pledge of £400 per person (£800 for a doubles team) excluding gift aid.
-
How do I cancel my place?
If you wish to cancel your place, you will need to contact the HYROX Ticketing Support.
Once you have cancelled your place, please email us at fitnesschallenge@macmillan.org.uk so that we can also update our systems.
Please note funds are not available for charity tickets.
-
Can I defer or transfer my ticket?
Ticket deferrals and event transfers are not available for the 25/26 season.
Only athletes who have purchased Charity Flex Add On are able to transfer their ticket name to a new participant. Changes can be made via your HYROX account.
-
How do I get tickets to a sold-out event?
If an event is full, unfortunately we cannot obtain new registrations. You can register your interest on the HYROX waitlist and keep an eye out for future events.
-
What is Charity Flex Add-On?
For the 25/26 season, HYROX have introduced Flex Add-On options. If you have purchased a Charity Flex ticket, you are entitled to one solo/doubles name change with your ticket. Refunds are not available for Charity tickets.
If you have a general entry ticket, you can find out more about your Flex Add On options on the HYROX website.
Fundraising support FAQs
-
How much do I have to fundraise?
If you have a Macmillan Charity Place, your fundraising target is £400 excluding gift aid. This is per person for solo and doubles, so if you are registered as a team for doubles, your team target will be £800.
If you are using your own place to fundraise, there is no minimum pledge.
-
How can I set up a fundraising page?
If you’re registered with Team Macmillan, you should receive a link to set up your fundraising page via email within 2 weeks of personalising your ticket. If you haven’t received this, please check that your ticket is personalised with the correct email address and that our emails haven’t landed in junk or spam, then reach out to us at fitnesschallenge@macmillan.org.uk.
You also can set up a fundraising page by visiting JustGiving, selecting Macmillan Cancer Support as your chosen charity, and selecting your HYROX event from the dropdown list. If you use the same email address you used to register for HYROX, your fundraising will be automatically linked to your registration. If you are using a different email to fundraise, please let us know at fitnesschallenge@macmillan.org.uk.
Any funds raised on a JustGiving page linked to Macmillan are automatically transferred to us, so there’s no need to pay-in fundraising from an online JustGiving page.
-
How can I fundraise as a team?
If you’re using JustGiving, you can select the ‘create a team’ option on your fundraising page and invite others to join. You can find full guidance on setting up a team page on JustGiving’s website.
If you’re using an alternative fundraising platform, or sharing one page to fundraise, please let us know via our Team Fundraising survey: Team Fundraising
Please note, if you have a Charity Place, your team’s minimum pledge is £400 x the number of team members. So, if you are a team of 2, your joint target is £800.
-
Will I lose my HYROX place if I don't reach my pledge?
Your place in the event will not be affected by your fundraising. However, Macmillan charity places do come at a cost to the charity and so we ask that you do your best to fundraise to ensure as much money raised as possible goes towards supporting people living with cancer.
On the day FAQs
-
When and how do I find out my race time?
HYROX will inform you of your exact start time by email 3 days before your event. You can also check your start time via: https://startlist.hyrox.com/ approximately 3 days before the event. Please note, divisions are divided into individual start waves and so have different start times.
You will also receive an email from HYROX 3 weeks before your event informing you of the timeslots for each division to allow you to plan your arrival and departure in advance.
Information on check-ins, ceremonies, division start times, and the venue map will also be added onto the event page.
It is recommended that you arrive at the venue at least 90 minutes before you start.
-
How do I buy spectator tickets?
Spectator tickets can be purchased online on the event page of the HYROX website under ‘Register Now’ or on-site on event day. On-site tickets subject to availability and purchasable by debit card only.
It’s highly recommended that spectator tickets are purchased well in advance of the event to avoid missing out. Macmillan is unable to obtain spectator tickets once tickets sell out.
Children under 12 do not require a ticket but must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. -
How much are spectator tickets?
Spectator tickets are £15/€15 per day or £25/€25 for days 1 and 2.
-
Will Macmillan be at HYROX?
Yes! We attend all UK and Ireland HYROX events. We attend all days with charity entry time slots, so if you have a general entry ticket and would like to find out which days we will be attending please contact us at fitnesschallenge@macmillan.org.uk.
We have a stall where you can collect any event day kit, have a free sports massage and get your exclusive Macmillan x HYROX patch. Make sure to come over and say hi!
-
How can I collect my Macmillan fundraising patch?
Team Macmillan will be attending all HYROX events on the weekend in UK and Ireland. If you have a charity place ticket, we will be present on the day so please come by to the Macmillan stand to collect your patch. If you have a general entry ticket, you can find out which days we are attending by contacting fitnesschallenge@macmillan.org.uk. If you are racing on a day when we aren’t attending, please email in and we can send a patch through the post.
We have very limited resource to send patches post event weekend, so if you have a Macmillan ticket please do try to collect before or after your race on event weekend.
Still have questions?
