What is the Macmillan Support Line?
When you contact the support line you will be able to talk to one of our specialists:
- Information and support adviser - advisers offer a listening ear and practical guidance.
- Cancer information nurse specialist - nurse specialists provide clinical information on symptoms, treatment, and side effects.
- Money adviser - money advisers can help you find out what benefits you may be entitled to.

Reasons you might get in touch
The Macmillan Support Line is for people living with cancer and their loved ones. Whatever your situation, we’re here to support you. You can contact us about any topic relating to cancer.
These include:
- Medical information around diagnosis, understanding treatments or types of cancer.
- Emotional support.
- Money worries, our money advisers are available Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. We also have information about preparing for a call with a Macmillan money adviser.
- Everyday support such as managing the practical aspects of living with cancer.
You can contact the Macmillan Support Line even if you don’t have a specific question in mind, our team is here to listen.
Ways to contact the Macmillan Support Line
What happens when you call the Macmillan Support Line
A friendly welcome
When you first call 0808 808 00 00 you will hear a recorded message which will explain your options. You will be asked to choose what type of support you need. Then your call will be directed to the appropriate team.
Speak to a real person
Once connected, you will speak to a trained Macmillan Professional who will help you with your enquiry. Their job is to listen to what you have to say and understand and respond to any needs, questions or concerns you may have.
All calls are confidential
All calls to the Macmillan Support Line are confidential. Our trained professionals will keep your information secure and safe. We do not use your personal data to contact you about other services unless we have your permission.
If your call is about a practical or medical query, the team will provide trusted up to date information. The team will assess your needs and then point you to relevant services. If you have requested to speak to a clinical nurse specialist the team may arrange a call back if it is not possible to be connected right away.
