Our volunteers have had some amazing achievements in 2022. Without their incredible generosity and kindness, we would not have been able to help so many people living with cancer. Let's have a quick look at some of the ways our volunteers got involved in 2022.

Volunteering in 2022

This year volunteering came back in strength and volume following the pandemic, and Macmillan volunteers got involved in numerous ways right across the organisation.

Whether taking part in a bucket collection, cheering at an event or providing a listening ear to someone living with cancer, our volunteers continually inspired us with their contribution and support to Macmillan.

Thanks to you, we have reached people across the country. This includes:

  • Providing over 8,000 hours of volunteering in 2022, from cheering on runners to emotional support to those living with cancer - you've been there.
  • Supporting over 3,000 people living with cancer through our Macmillan Buddy service.
  • Making nearly 500 care packages for people living with cancer through partners such as Santander, CBRE and Motor Fuel Group.
  • Supporting more than 100 challenge events, legacy promotions and powering collections with corporate partners like Boots, Costa Coffee and M&S - helping us to raise millions of pounds in the process.
  • Raising over £2 million (and counting) for Macmillan through our Volunteering Fundraising Groups.

We also launched Assemble, our new Volunteering Management System, which helps volunteering with Macmillan be the best experience it can be.

Thank you for all your support in 2022 and helping Macmillan do whatever it takes for people living with cancer.
