Membership group fundraising ideas

If you’re a member of a community group see how your support can help people living with and affected by cancer by putting together an event such as the below.

Gala dinner

Organise a gala dinner and invite your group members, friends and family to spend an evening together for Macmillan. You could include a raffle, auction, or fundraising games like heads and tails. Decorate your tables with a green theme, and make sure you order donation envelopes from our supporter care team.

Hold a collection

Organise a collection at a supermarket, shopping centre, or high street. Remember to get permission from the landowners if it’s private property, or a permit from the council if it’s on public land. Also make sure you have some ID on you. Contact our supporter care team to get collection tins, buckets, and other Macmillan branded items.

Match for Macmillan

Host a community tournament for bowls, football or any other activity that takes your fancy. Charge teams for taking part in a Match for Macmillan, and hold a raffle at the event, or even host a dinner afterwards. Have a look at our Match for Macmillan pages for more information.

Charity of the year

Membership groups sometimes select a charity to work with all year. Selecting a charity to work with for the year is a great way to engage your members and make a real difference in your local community. With the support of your local Macmillan Relationship Fundraiser you could aim to fund a nurse for a day, a week or even a month. It allows us to build a great relationship and raise much needed funds. For more information call 0300 1000 200.

"The atmosphere of collections at Christmas time in Chester is amazing. With the Christmas market, you really get a festive feel and that helps keep morale up even when it is very chilly! A standout moment from my most recent collection was having conversations with some people who have had personal experience with Macmillan. Hearing their stories really motivates you to do what you do and also singing along to carols with my friend who I was volunteering with!"
