A cancer diagnosis is the biggest challenge many people will ever face, and for some it can be made even tougher.  
How quickly someone is diagnosed, the care they receive, and their chances of recovery can be affected by where they live, what they earn, where they work, how they communicate or the colour of their skin. It shouldn’t be that way.  

Everyone deserves the best possible cancer care. But too many people aren’t receiving it.  

Through Macmillan’s Fair Cancer Care Campaign, we’re on a mission to help make cancer care better for everyone. We’re bringing together the people who know cancer best - from healthcare professionals and community groups to our partners, volunteers, supporters and our own experts – to bring cancer care closer to every UK home

Meet Lee

Lee from Teesside experienced a sudden mental health crisis after being diagnosed with blood cancer. After calling the Macmillan Support Line and receiving the emotional support he needed, Lee was inspired to become a Macmillan volunteer. His passion for getting people talking about what they’re going through has given Lee a new sense of purpose.

Meet Jess

"You’re too young to get bowel cancer. It’s all in your head.” This is what Jess, then just 28, was told when she shared worries about bowel cancer symptoms with her GP. After a difficult experience of diagnosis and multiple surgeries and treatments for two types of cancer, Jess has a powerful message of speaking up for yourself, even when you feel you’re not being taken seriously because of who you are.

Meet Denzil

After losing his brother to cancer and a challenging time during his own cancer diagnosis, Denzil is encouraging all people, no matter who they are, to reach out and advocate for their care. Driven by the desire to create the space to talk that he once needed, he formed a men’s walking group that now offers a judgement free environment for people to share their feelings.
