About this award

This award is for an individual or group that:

  • is employed by one of Macmillan’s current corporate partners, but not specifically to support Macmillan
  • demonstrates a can-do attitude and volunteers with enthusiasm and passion
  • goes above and beyond the partnership plans by showing innovation, collaboration and drive
  • shows greater commitment than other colleagues or groups by championing Macmillan, encouraging other colleagues to get involved, and being seen as the face of Macmillan within their organisation.

Rebecca Gallacher, 2019 UK winner

Rebecca is a Master Data Analyst in Cumbernauld. In the three years since the partnership with her employer AG Barr began, she has helped to more than double their initial annual employee fundraising target of £28,000, raising almost £80,000.

Her enthusiasm and creativity in organising World’s Biggest Coffee Mornings, AG Barr’s Family Fun days and contacting local businesses for prizes is exceptional. She recently led a team of volunteers at the AG Barr Sportsman’s dinner and raised over £10,000.

In 2017, Rebecca joined the Macmillan Fundraising Action Team, and soon became an Event Champion. She also managed end-tents and cheer points of volunteers at fundraising events such as the Great Scottish Swim, Paisley 10k and the Great Scottish Run.

Rebecca’s commitment to fundraising for and volunteering inspires all around her. When discussing the fundraising success of AG Barr, you think of Rebecca. In Scotland, her name is recognised by fundraising managers for her many successful volunteering ventures.
