Dress up and Dance

Join us

All you need to do is tell your pupils to come into school or nursery wearing their favourite dance outfits and bring in a suggested £2 donation to Macmillan.

Check out our resources, get dancing and start making a difference.

With everyone dressed up, just put on our easy-to-follow dance moves and get groovy. All of the fun will even count towards curriculum learning objectives.

Most importantly, you'll have done something truly amazing for people affected by cancer.

It's easy – register and we'll send you everything you need.

Have you held your Dress Up and Dance?

All you need to do now is pay in the pounds you raised. It’s easy to pay in online, over the phone, via a bank or by post.

Find out how you can pay in.

What is Dress Up and Dance?

Get your school dancing and help to raise money so that Macmillan Cancer support can improve the lives of even more people living with cancer.

Ask your class or even the whole school to wear their favourite dance outfit and bring in a suggested £2 donation.

Your pupils can twirl in a tutu, hip-hop in a hoodie or even just jive in their jeans – it's completely up to them. When you register you will receive a free kit, and there is lots of inspiration for you and them online, including our dance tutorials.

When is it?

Friday 15 June 2018 is the official Dress Up and Dance day, but you can take part on another day of the year if this is more convenient.

What do I need?

What will my free Dress Up and Dance pack contain?

Your free Dress Up and Dance pack will feature stickers for everyone who takes part. There are tonnes of great resources online including costume crafts, activity and assembly plans suitable for Primary School and Early Years, and our fab dance tutorials

When will I get my Dress Up and Dance pack?

Your free Dress Up and Dance pack will be sent to you from May 2018.

However, if you're keen to get started, we have some great fundraising and educational resources on our schools website that can help you. You can also visit our be.Macmillan site and create some fantastic posters and leaflets for your event.

After April, please allow 10 working days from sign up for your pack to arrive in the post.

If your pack has not arrived contact us on 0300 1000 200, or email dressup@macmillan.org.uk.

I haven't received my Dress Up and Dance pack yet – why’s that?

Resource packs will be sent from May 2018. If you haven't received it by early June, email us and we'll send one to you. Close

How can I order additional materials?

Unfortunately we are unable to offer additional printed items this year. This is because we want as much money as possible to go to people facing cancer.

You can download most of the resources online.

Can a Macmillan speaker visit my school?

If you would like to arrange a Macmillan schools talk please contact us by email or call 0300 1000 200.

We’ve also produced our Talking About Cancer toolkit – which you can use with your older pupils as part of your PSHE/PSE/PSD, citizenship or science lessons. You can order this additional pack online here.

Where does the money go?

With more people living with cancer than ever before, the need for our work is constantly growing. The money you raise, no matter how much or how little, will help make a real difference to people living with cancer.

£2 could pay for five copies of our Help with the Cost of Cancer booklet. This features information that could help a person affected by cancer who has money worries.

£27 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

£165 could pay for a Macmillan Grant that would make a significant contribution to the cost of a person’s travel to hospital for treatment.

£278 could keep a typical Macmillan information and support centre stocked with all the information resources it needs to support people affected by cancer for a month. These resources would include booklets, guides, directories and leaflets.

Will I receive acknowledgement after we pay in?

Yes. On receipt of payment, you'll be sent a certificate stating how much you have raised as a thank you for all your support.
