Follow in the footsteps of royalty along the spectacular Monarch’s Way and South Downs Way in this unique and inclusive figure-of-eight ultramarathon.

Explore the 100km Route

Designed to challenge the most experienced ultra enthusiast, whilst providing the perfect entry point for those taking on their first ultramarathon. The 100km takes you on a journey to the coast before looping back to West Dean Gardens and out towards Arundel Castle and the heights of the South Downs.

Explore the 50K Coastal Route

As you set off on your memorable journey running through the ornamental gardens of West Dean and through the ancient village of Bosham, you’ll take in the panoramic views of this coastal area of outstanding natural beauty. With rolling hills, luscious greenery, and fantastic wildlife through Kingley Vale Nature Reserve, you won’t want your journey to end!

Explore the 50K Castle Route

Setting off from Basecamp, you will pass by the impressive Arundel Castle as you meander along the River Arun. As you head towards the finish you will journey across the South Downs Way, where you can expect challenging climbs and breath-taking views in every direction, before ending your journey back at the West Dean Estate.

New for 2026 – Explore the 30km Monarch’s Loop Route

Sharing a start and finish line with the Castle 50k route, you’ll head towards Bignor Hill to explore Monarch’s Way – an ancient Roman road (now trail). Make your way through the forests and enjoy the beautiful Downland scenery before heading back to the West Dean estate.

New for 2026 – Explore the 80km Route

This 80km non-stop route combines both the Coastal 50km and the Monarch’s Loop 30km to create a perfect route designed as a ‘stepping stone’ for runners and walkers looking to increase their distance from 50km.

Guide and support dogs are welcome at this event.

For participants who need a guide to make this event accessible to them, if you choose the 'non-stop' package, your guide can accompany you free of charge. If you choose the 'weekender' package, there is a discounted charge of £80 for your guide - this is to cover costs for the overnight basecamp.

Due to the nature of this event it is not recommended for wheelchairs.
