Our partnership with Boots

We're working with Boots to help everyone living with cancer find the information and support they need to feel more like themselves again.

COVID-19 update

During this time, Macmillan's priority is the health and well-being of people living with cancer, our staff and volunteers. We are pleased to be working in partnership with Boots, to support people living with cancer in the best way possible at this extraordinary time.

Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacist Service

Boots UK are currently focused on providing essential pharmacy and healthcare services in stores. Our Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists are still in-store and able to provide advice and support to those who are still able to access stores, whether that is the person living with cancer or someone going on their behalf. We’re so proud of all our amazing Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists who are working hard every day to provide people with their prescriptions, listen to worries and concerns about medication, and guide them to other sources of information and support.

Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors

Due to COVID-19, Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors won't be in store to offer help and advice, but you can still get help virtually. We've partnered with No7 to create make-up and skincare video tutorials. You can also book a virtual beauty consultation below.

Virtual Beauty Service

No7 has launched a Virtual Beauty Service, to help you feel more like you again. You can book a 15-20 minute telephone or video appointment with a Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisor, who can provide make-up and skincare advice to help you manage the side visible effects of cancer treatment.

Prescription Delivery Charges

For those who are shielding or self-isolating, Boots’ online prescription delivery service continues to provide free deliveries to your front door. We have also worked with Boots to waive the offline prescription delivery charge for people living with cancer during this challenging period. If you are unable to access the online delivery service and unable to collect your prescription in store, please consider alternative methods to arrange your prescription delivery (friends/ family/local volunteer service) or speak to your local Boots Store Team who will be able to arrange free delivery for you.

Safe Space

As part of their response and support during COVID-19 pandemic, Boots have teamed up with UK Says No More to launch Safe Spaces in their Pharmacy consultation rooms across the UK. By creating this Safe Space in Boots UK pharmacies, the hope is many will be able to safely access support while following Government guidelines. Learn more about the Safe Spaces scheme.

Our partnership with Boots

Being told ‘you have cancer’ can affect so much more than just your health – it can affect the way you think and feel about yourself.

Our experience in supporting people living with cancer, combined with Boots UK’s expertise of delivering healthcare and beauty information and advice, means we are able to be right there for thousands of people in their local communities, wherever they are in the UK.

We're working with Boots to make sure that everyone, everywhere has access to the best cancer information and support they need in a place that’s every day, familiar, reliable and trusted.

How our partnership helps

Boots UK have raised over £18.5 million for Macmillan Cancer Support since the partnership began in 2009, thanks to the continuous support of wonderful colleagues and customers.

But it’s the Macmillan-trained volunteers that make our partnership so unique and special. That’s because they really understand the needs of people living with cancer and direct people to the support they need. We provide bespoke training to thousands of Boots UK pharmacists and No7 Beauty Advisors.

Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists (BMIPs) are professional pharmacists employed by Boots who volunteer some of their time in work to support customers affected by cancer. They are trained to understand more about cancer diagnosis, treatment and how cancer affects people. They can also answer questions about medication and guide people to other sources of information and support.

Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors (BMBAs) are No7 Advisors trained by Macmillan and Boots to give face to face advice to help people cope with visible side effects. From defining sparse brows and lashes to caring for nails that are suddenly more brittle, they offer lots of tips to help people feel, and look, more like themselves again.

Fundraising that makes a difference

Across the last 10 years, Boots UK colleagues have thrown themselves into a variety of fundraising events, in and out of stores, involving both colleagues and customers. From raffles and lunch-swaps to make-up-athons and pamper evenings, Boots UK are dedicated to raising vital funds to support Macmillan to be right there for people living with cancer.

Boots UK colleagues regularly take part in challenge events, including Macmillan’s Mighty Hike series, the London Marathon, and events they have created themselves, such as cycling 170 miles across the UK. We are currently planning an overseas trek across the Great Wall of China with over 50 Boots colleagues.

Through the valuable support of Boots colleagues in stores, and in offices, the partnership has raised an incredible £18.5 million in the last 10 years, with many more colleagues and customers getting involved in fundraising every month.

No7 partnership

No7 have pledged to raise £1 million for Macmillan through a variety of activities, from a series of events in stores, to the limited edition ‘You Got This’ make up bag, available later this year and with all profits coming to Macmillan.

Our partnership aims to raise awareness of the Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisor role and highlight the support available in store. Together we are committed to ensuring customers are empowered to access the local support they need.

How Boots are helping during the crisis

We are delighted to be working in partnership with an organisation supporting the national efforts against COVID-19

  • COVID-19 testing – Boots are supporting the community, the NHS and the government to set up and resource new drive-through testing stations for COVID-19.
  • Staff workforce – Boots are serving their patients and customers to the best of their ability by redeploying many of their staff into different vital roles, pulling together to support each other and playing their part to help in this time of need.
  • #PrescribeKindness campaign – Boots customers and staff members have been sharing messages of kindness across social media. These supportive messages are going a long way at this challenging time for those colleagues in store, including our wonderful Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists, as they serve their local communities.
