What do cancer voices do?

When you are part of cancer voices, you can get involved in a variety of projects, discussions, and events.
Take a look at the video above to hear from people in the community who've worked with us to influence what we do.
If you would like to get involved in cancer voices projects, you can dedicate as much or as little time as you wish. For example, you may choose to do a one-off activity or take part in a project over several months. It’s up to you how active you want to be, how much time you have to offer, and which activities interest you.
You don’t need specific skills or experience. Your key contribution is your personal experience of cancer. Everyone who works with us helps us to understand what matters to them and how this can be reflected in Macmillan’s work and services. We would love to hear from you.
Our monthly cancer voices newsletter gives more of a flavour of what we do. You can sign up to receive the newsletter when you join.
How do I join the Cancer Voices Community?
When you join the community, you will be asked to complete an online form which enables you to provide a little information about you and your cancer experience, if you would like to.
You can also browse online for current cancer voices and volunteering opportunities.
Cancer voices events
During 2020 and 2021, we held online events to stay in touch with everyone across the community. This enabled us to keep progressing some of our work with you.
In July 2020, we held our first cancer voices webinar.
In May 2021, we hosted a successful online event, attended by 82 people from the community. We launched the cancer voices film at the event. The community helped plan the event, present sessions, and facilitate discussions.

Annual conferences
In previous years, cancer voices have been invited to join us at an annual two-day event. This was an opportunity to hear more about how we were working together.
