London Marathon being cheered on by Macmillan supporters

Our biggest sport fundraiser will be back on Sunday 2 October and you can be part of this iconic event by supporting us at one of our six Macmillan cheerpoints.

In 2021, the efforts of Macmillan runners raised an astonishing £2.2 million.

What is the London Marathon?

The London Marathon is one of the world’s most loved sporting events. Every year for over three decades, people from across the UK come together to run the iconic route around London with thousands more supporting them as they raise money for life-changing charities.

In 2021, the efforts of Macmillan runners raised an astonishing £2.2 million and this year our runners are training their socks off to make the same change for people living with cancer.

Why volunteer for Macmillan?

The funds raised at our events matter, but so do the people behind them. It’s not only runners who make the London Marathon so impressive. You can make a huge difference to the day by supporting us at one of our six cheerpoints, making this day a truly amazing experience for our runners and thanking them for all their hard work.

By representing Macmillan on the day, you will also be raising vital awareness for our charity and the support we offer, as well as making an invaluable contribution to the atmosphere for all runners, spectators and the public.

What you'll get out of volunteering

There are many benefits to volunteering at the London Marathon. You’ll get to:

  • meet like-minded people from within our volunteer community and beyond
  • volunteer alongside your family and friends by signing up as a group
  • experience a buzzing atmosphere at one of the world’s most iconic sporting events, suited to children and adults alike
  • spot famous faces running past. Check out who’s lined up.
  • receive a briefing and support on the day and agreed travel expenses within our guidelines

To give a sense of what it’s really like to volunteer at the London Marathon, here is what one of our previous volunteers said:

London Marathon quote

So…Be silly. Be loud. Show our runners the support they deserve on their 26.2 mile challenge this October. See all the details (including timings and locations) and sign up.

Thank you for your continued support and helping Macmillan do whatever it takes for people living with cancer.
