Chase the Sun UK North
About this event
Sign up for Chase The Sun 2025 and ride across Scotland in one day from dawn to dusk. The event is a ride, not a race, bringing together a community of likeminded cyclists as they attempt this extraordinary challenge.
Starting at Whitley Bay, this 200 mile route has 3,200 meters of elevation. Departing from the beachfront, you will ride through Northumberland National Park and past Hermitage Castle, Forest of Ae and Kendoon Loch. You will see breath-taking vistas, forests, heaths, rivers, lochs, castles and beaches before witnessing the sun set into the sea beside the Isle of Arran as you complete your incredible ride.
How to enter Chase the Sun UK North 2025
Secure a Team Macmillan place
We offer exclusive charity places for Chase The Sun across all three locations. We ask for a £89 entry fee and a minimum fundraising pledge of £400 (excluding gift aid). This is a saving of over 40% against the popular Ride Plus+ event entry package.
Join Team Macmillan as part of a relay
With an exclusive £75 off RRP offered to Macmillan riders, take on Chase the Sun as a team of 3 or 4, splitting the 200+ mile route into more manageable distances. As a team, pledge to raise £400 as a team to support people living with cancer.

The route has no signs, timings, rules, or medals, making it a physical, motivational, and navigational challenge.
You will be sent detailed navigational advice including route guides with turn-by-turn route maps for your bike computer or smartphone and a minute-by-minute scheduling to ensure you pace yourself across the route and arrive at the west coast before sunset.
