The Macbrum campaign

Every day a staggering 34 people in Birmingham and the Black Country hear the devastating news they have cancer.

Macmillan in Birmingham and The Black Country

When you have cancer you still have a life to lead, friends to see, family who need you and people to love. Macmillan is here to help people in Birmingham and The Black Country to get on with their lives, no matter how cancer affects them. We can give practical, emotional and personal support to help people hold on to who they are and what’s important to them.

The #macbrum campaign aims to raise £250,000 which will be spent on our vital services in the area. We need your help to make sure people get the support they need. You can read about some of our planned and current projects in Birmingham and The Black Country, and examples of what your donations could help to support below.

The Macmillan Relate Counselling Service

"This vital service offers free counselling to people living in parts of Birmingham and The Black Country who have been affected by cancer and changes in their relationships, at a time when they need it most."

Eileen Clews, Macmillan Relate Service Co-ordinator, Bishopgate Street, Birmingham.

Macmillan GP Facilitators

"Having protected time in the working week as a busy GP to focus on improving cancer care for patients is vital. Without Macmillan's funding this just would not be possible."

Dr Aditi Gupte, Macmillan GP Facilitator, Northfield, Birmingham.

The Macmillan Grants Service

"Having a Macmillan grant meant that after a hard fight against skin cancer, my family and I could have some respite for a weekend, which we couldn't have afforded without Macmillan's help."

Cheryl Attwood, Macmillan Volunteer and Cancer Voice.

The Macmillan Direct Volunteering Service

"We support people affected by cancer in Birmingham and The Black Country with practical tasks around the home, and provide a listening ear to those who are greatly in need of emotional support."

Ravinder Wouhra, Birmingham Buddies Macmillan Volunteering Service.
