The difference our Macmillan professionals make

How you can help

In 2024, our Macmillan nurses, support workers and palliative care nurses delivered expert care and support to an estimated 700,000 people living with cancer.

Since the 1970s, access to specialist cancer professional has transformed cancer care. It has led to reduced emergency hospital admissions and serious mental health distress. This bold innovation has proven so effective that the NHS has adopted the approach across other long term health conditions.

But with someone in the UK told "it's cancer" every 75 seconds, demand has rapidly outpaced capacity.

To meet this challenge, we are seeking philanthropic investment to expand our Macmillan Professionals by 50% by 2030. This way we can reach thousands more people with specialist support when they need it the most.

At the same time, you can help launch a new national community of Macmillan Affiliates. From pharmacists to physiotherapists, this initiative will help connect a further 40,000 affiliated healthcare professionals to spread best practice beyond hospitals and into neighbourhood care.

Your support will equip the frontline workforce with advanced training in new treatments, diagnostics and care that meets the need of the most marginalised communities. Together, we will ensure everyone can benefit from care that treats them as an individual.

Your philanthropy will also provide the space and seed funding for professionals to test, prove and scale new approaches - driving innovation from the frontline to mainstream practice and reshaping what world leading care looks like.
