Getting my diagnosis
"You don’t have to carry everything alone"
Why I stopped hiding my emotions
As men, we’re often taught not to cry or show emotion, but I do cry, and I do show emotion. That, along with prayer, has helped me keep going. If you don’t let things out, the weight can bury you.
You need someone you can talk to – what I call a safe space. I love my family, but I don’t want to place all of my burden on my partner, especially when she already homeschools our three children. Writing has become an outlet for me. When I put words on paper, I can see what I’ve been carrying, and I can turn it into something that might help someone else.
I want other people, especially men, to know they can find their own outlet – writing, sport, talking to someone, anything positive. You don’t have to carry everything alone."Everyone should have the same level of care..."
