Senedd elections 2026
In May 2026 people across Wales will go to the polls to elect 96 Members of the Senedd (MSs) to form the next Welsh Government.
Cancer care is in crisis
With an increase in the number of Members of the Senedd (MSs) – from 60 to 96 – and a new voting system, these elections will see the biggest change to the Senedd since devolution.
At Macmillan, we believe these elections must be a turning point.
Cancer care is in crisis and the people of Wales deserve better. The next Welsh Government must take action to deliver systemic changes that tackle unwarranted variations in treatment and care, address deep-rooted inequities, and put the voices of underserved communities at the heart of cancer care.
Macmillan's manifesto and four urgent priorities
Working in partnership with people with lived experience of cancer in Wales and Macmillan professionals, our manifesto for the 2026 elections sets out four urgent priorities for building a fairer, sustainable future for cancer care in Wales.
- A 10-year National Cancer Strategy – long-term, inclusive, and accountable, led by a dedicated Minister for Cancer.
- A well-supported cancer workforce – with equal access to training, career progression, and data-driven planning.
- A revolution in cancer data and digital infrastructure – empowering patients and professionals alike.
- A holistic, person-centred cancer system – with access to emotional, physical, and practical support wherever and whenever it’s needed.

Etholiadau'r Senedd 2026
Yn Macmillan, rydym ni’n credu bod yn rhaid i’r etholiadau hyn fod yn drobwynt.
Mae gofal canser mewn argyfwng ac mae pobl Cymru yn haeddu gwell. Rhaid i Lywodraeth nesaf Cymru weithredu i gyflawni newidiadau systemig sy'n mynd i'r afael ag amrywiadau direswm mewn triniaeth a gofal, mynd i'r afael ag anghydraddoldebau dwfn, a rhoi lleisiau cymunedau nad ydynt yn cael eu gwasanaethu fel y dylent wrth wraidd gofal canser.
Gan weithio mewn partneriaeth â phobl sydd â phrofiad byw o ganser yng Nghymru a gweithwyr proffesiynol Macmillan, mae ein maniffesto ar gyfer etholiadau 2026 yn nodi pedair blaenoriaeth frys ar gyfer adeiladu dyfodol tecach a chynaliadwy ar gyfer gofal canser yng Nghymru:
- Strategaeth Genedlaethol Canser 10-mlynedd - hirdymor, cynhwysol, ac atebol, wedi'i arwain gan Weinidog penodedig dros Ganser.
- Gweithlu canser wedi'i gefnogi'n dda – gyda mynediad cyfartal i hyfforddiant, datblygiad gyrfa, a chynllunio wedi'i lywio gan ddata.
- Chwyldro mewn data canser a seilwaith digidol – grymuso cleifion a gweithwyr proffesiynol fel ei gilydd.
- System canser gynhwysfawr, sy’n canolbwyntio ar yr unigolyn – gyda mynediad at gefnogaeth emosiynol, corfforol ac ymarferol ble bynnag a phryd bynnag y bydd ei angen.
