Why does Macmillan support community organisations?
Real change in cancer care starts with those who know the challenges they face the best – communities themselves.
That’s why we are working with community partners in every nation of the UK. We are supporting and in turn being inspired by the innovative and ground-breaking work they are doing to reach people where they are, and provide more care closer to where people live.
What support is available?
At Macmillan, we have a variety of different ways we can support community organisations.
We know that small and large community-led organisations are vital to reducing cancer inequity but face increasing demand, workforce strain and limited infrastructure, with many under significant pressure.
We provide funding, but we also know funding alone is not enough. We have developed tailored, non-financial support to build leadership and long-term resilience, particularly for small organisations.

Support grants
One-off payments of up to £15,000 for interventions that directly benefit people living with cancer.
Who can apply:
- Cancer self-help and support groups
- Macmillan Professionals and wider workforce
- Voluntary, third-sector, and community groups
- Partner organisations.
