How we are funding community-led projects to deliver long-term change in UK cancer care

Working with communities to tackle inequality

Macmillan CARE Grants are about Culture, Agency, Respect and Equity, with our grants being awarded to projects that can offer support and care where it’s needed the most.

Through our new grant pilot, we have provided just under £8 million to 64 community groups who will lead projects designed to tackle inequity and improve care for those who all too often experience the worst outcomes.

This includes projects dedicated to improving services for people with cancer and dementia, to making sure people are offered a fuller say in decisions about their care, and to improving support for those who all too often have poorer outcomes, such as people from ethnically diverse communities, people who are LGBTQ+, those with a disability or those living in the UK’s most economically vulnerable areas.

Creating fairer cancer care together

This is a major first step in our journey to re-imagine how Macmillan funds and works alongside our community partners to help transform cancer care.

Together, we want to create a cancer care system that works better for everyone. A system that is built around people’s lives and based on people’s individual needs.
