National Cancer Research Institute

As a partner of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) we work with other major research funders – including government health departments, research councils, and a whole range of different cancer charities – to coordinate research on cancer in the UK. The institute builds relationships between partners to understand areas of strength and weakness in research within the UK, and to identify future areas of priority.

The NCRI hold an annual conference in Liverpool, attended by leading academics and clinical researchers to showcase cancer research from across science and medicine. Representatives from Macmillan’s Evidence Department attend this, showcasing our latest research on living with and beyond cancer that we have conducted, commissioned, or grant-funded.

For the 2016 conference (6 – 9 November), one of our funded academics, Professor Claire Foster (Professor of Psychosocial Oncology and Director of the Macmillan Survivorship Research Group at the University of Southampton), will be chairing a parallel session on: The changing face of cancer follow-up: Supported self-management.

For more information regarding our partnership with NCRI please contact our Research Lead, Nic Lee.
