The Afan Monster poster
The Macmillan Afan Monster will possibly be the best and hardest 75km and 100km mountain bike challenge of 2010. This 'enduro' uses the knowledge of experienced local riders to bring together many of the hidden gems of Afan Forest Park into one awesome ride.
The ride uses mostly little known natural trails throughout the Afan Valley, plus the best of the existing trails including The Wall, Penhydd and Skyline single tracks. So, whether you are a regular visitor of Afan Forest Park or coming for the first time, this is the ride for you!
The event will start and finish at Theatr Tymaen, Afan Visitor Centre. All riders will need to sign-on at Theatr Tymaen and commence the ride between 7.45am and 9.15am. It is strongly recommended that riders wanting to attempt the 100km option leave early to make the cut-off time.
The cut-off is expected to be around 2.30pm at around 55km but riders can make a final choice on whether to tackle the 100km option as long as they reach this point by the cut-off time. Free parking, free mechanical support, regular quality feed stations and after-ride entertainment at Theatr Tymaen will ensure a ride to remember and make this the enduro to attempt in 2010!
Entry fee is £25 per rider for both 75km or 100km routes plus sponsorship. We are encouraging riders to raise a further minimum £25 or more in sponsorship.
