By 2020 almost half the population will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Boots UK and Macmillan Cancer Support are working together to ensure that as the demand for cancer services rises, people affected by cancer wherever they are in the UK, have access to the best cancer information and support in their local community.
By combining our expertise to deliver innovative services and improve access to localised support across the UK, we aim to connect people and their loved ones to information and support in their community, to ensure everyone affected by cancer will be able to have conversations about the wider, practical and emotional issues, at a time when they need it most.
We aim to do this by engaging Boots UK staff and customers around the local cancer need and inspire them to become passionate, active ambassadors for Boots UK and Macmillan in their local communities. By offering unique volunteering and fundraising opportunities we will enable colleagues and customers to raise vital funds for people affected by cancer and ensure that no-one faces cancer alone.
By providing bespoke cancer training to Boots UK pharmacists we will improve patient experience as the demand for cancer services rises. By training Boots No.7 Advisors to give tips and advice on how to manage the visible side-effects of cancer we will utilise the expert health and beauty expertise of Boots colleagues to help people affected by cancer feel more like themselves.
Since the partnership began in 2009, Boots UK colleagues and customers have raised over £10 million and are continuing to raise significant funds for Macmillan to help to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
The partnership has also introduced two new roles that are available at various Boots stores across the UK.
These are Boots UK pharmacists who have volunteered to receive bespoke training developed by Macmillan to support people affected by cancer with relevant information.
They can help answer any questions you may have about cancer and help you find support and information in your local community.
These are No7 Advisors have been trained by Boots UK and Macmillan to help and support people manage the visible side-effects of cancer.
You may find that some of the side-effects of cancer treatment are having an impact on how you feel about yourself.
Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors can give you free, face- to-face advice about caring for your skin, hair and nails.
