CHOP comes from the initials of the drugs used:
- R – rituximab
- C – cyclophosphamide
- H – doxorubicin (hydroxydaunomycin)
- O – vincristine (Oncovin®)
- P – prednisolone (a steroid)
Rituximab is not a chemotherapy drug. It is a targeted therapy and belongs to a group of drugs called monoclonal antibodies.
Your doctor will talk to you about this treatment and its possible side effects before you agree (consent) to have treatment.
