Great North Swim

The 1 Mile distance is suitable for swimmers of all abilities. You will swim the equivalent of 64 lengths of a 25m pool and the average time to complete this distance is 40 minutes. Choose a leisurely breaststroke while taking in the scenery or kick into crawl for a faster time. You must be 16 years or above to enter this event.

Get a Macmillan Charity Place in the Great North Swim

Our charity places in the 1-mile swim are a great way to make a difference to people affected by cancer. There is a £30 registration fee and we ask you to pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship amount of £200.

Use your own place at the Great North Swim

Interested in joining Team Macmillan? Fill in our own place registration form. As you have a general entry place, you do not have a minimum fundraising amount – just raise as much as you can!

As a Team Macmillan swimmer you'll receive:

• free Macmillan swimming cap
• access to our online training zone
• digital welcome pack full of handy fundraising ideas
• dedicated supporter care team close at hand.

Most importantly we'll provide you with a reason to keep going because you'll know that you're helping improve the lives of people living with cancer. Donations make up 98% of our annual income so we simply couldn't do what we do without you.

Please make sure you have read our Terms and Conditions before signing up. You must be aged 18 or over on the day of the event to take part.
