Macmillan Home Visiting Service - Emotional support - Barnet, Hertfordshire

This service provides emotional and practical support to people with cancer through emotional support. Befrienders, who are trained volunteers, visit and provide companionship to the person with cancer, usually once a week for an hour or so according to the befriender's stated availability and the need of the service user. The befriender will provide complementary support such as social visiting, simple tasks, simple advocacy and respite for carers. This may include accompanying someone to hospital, paying bills or providing a listening ear. Visits may be at the person's home or in hospital or a hospice.
