Why are community organisations so important?
Cancer is one of the biggest challenges many people will ever face, and for some, it’s made even harder by who they are, where they live, what they earn or how they communicate. It shouldn’t be that way. That’s why we’re partnering with community-led organisations across the UK to reduce variation, tackle inequity and help change a system that does not work for everyone.
Communities understand their own needs best and hold the knowledge and skills needed to transform cancer care. Together, we’re building a future where we share funding, develop skills and learn from one another to help fix cancer care. Cancer will never be fair, but together, we can make cancer care fairer.
If you are part of a community organisation we'd love to hear from you. Complete our survey and let us what you do and which communities you work with.
Who do we work with?
What support is available
We have a variety of different ways we can support community organisations.
We know that small and large community-led organisations are vital to reducing cancer inequity but face increasing demand, workforce strain and limited infrastructure, with many under significant pressure.
- Funding - Find out more about the financial support you can apply for: Macmillan Funding Grants
- Capacity strengthening - Funding alone is not enough. That’s why we are developing tailored, non-financial support to build leadership and long-term resilience, particularly for small organisations. Sign up to find out more.
Building a better system together
Together, we can move beyond patching gaps in UK cancer care to transform it into a fairer, more effective system built around people’s lives. We aim comitted to delivering this change by working in partnership with communities. Explore some of our work in this area.
