Our partnership with Greene King

Our partnership with Greene King began in May 2012. Since then, thanks to the generosity of their team members and guests, their fundraising total has now reached an incredible £2 million.

To mark this milestone, we are delighted that Greene King, now the country’s biggest pub hospitality company, has renewed our partnership for a further three years. The money raised during this time will fund vital services, such as Macmillan nurses.

Since the partnership began, their team members have thrown themselves into fundraising by climbing mountains, sky-diving, running marathons, cycling, swimming, holding coffee mornings, and even pushing beds along dual carriageways.

Greene King’s guests have also played an important role in helping to raise money. Pubs, restaurants and hotels have pulled together for Macmillan in their local communities for World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and guests with a sweet tooth have helped to raise over £200,000 by enjoying selected desserts from Greene King menus, which included a donation to Macmillan.

Rooney Anand, Chief Executive Officer at Greene King, said, 'I am so proud of all our team members and incredibly grateful for our guests’ support, all working together to help raise £2 million for Macmillan. It is a phenomenal achievement, especially as we have raised double the amount we originally set ourselves.

'I am thrilled that we are able to stay working with Macmillan to continue to help fund its important work across the country.'

Lynda Thomas, Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support, added, 'Congratulations to all the Greene King team members and their guests who have gone above and beyond with their fundraising, smashing their initial target and raising such a huge sum. This £2 million will have a huge impact in helping us ensure cancer patients and their loved ones don’t have to face cancer alone.

'I would like to say thank you to everyone who has worked to make this incredible achievement possible, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together over the next three years.'
