Our new partnership with one of the UK’s leading pub retailer and brewer Greene King, kicked off in May with staff pulling in a staggering £47,000 for people affected by cancer in the first three months.
Greene King hope to raise £1 million over the next three years to help Macmillan provide support to people living with cancer. Staff kick-started their fundraising by taking part in virtual cycling challenges on static exercise bikes, holding themed quiz nights and even taking on the challenge of pushing a bed along a dual carriage way.
Mark Blythman, Strategy & Communications Director at Greene King also got the wheels of Greene King’s fundraising into motion by taking part in a four day cycle challenge from London to Paris with his friends, collectively raising a whopping £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Rachel Gascoigne, Partnership Account Manager at Macmillan said: ‘We’re thrilled with the amount of fundraising and support from Greene King staff already and would like to thank everyone for their fabulous generosity and efforts. I am sure there are many more fun and unique fundraising activities to come from Greene King staff this year.’
Mark Blythman added: ‘Our teams are already very involved in fundraising for charities on a local level, but this is our first UK-wide charity partnership. We recognise the importance of raising awareness and as much money as possible to support the hard work that goes into supporting both people living with cancer, as well as their family and friends. It really is a great cause and we are excited to be helping the Macmillan team do this.’
