Trek Kilimanjaro
About The Event
Taking on Africa’s highest mountain is often called the hardest thing an ordinary person can do. When it comes to charity challenges, this is classic. The feeling of pushing on to conquer the 5,895m summit is hard to beat – and doing it for a good cause is even better. Join us and take on this challenge with your friends, family or solo, having found a great group of people along the way. Group climbs bring like-minded people together to share the experience. Support Macmillan and reach the roof of Africa!
The Lemosho route is one of the most scenic ways to reach the top, offering incredible views from the rainforests to the cold summit. You’ll be supported every step of the way by the Action Challenge team – with a UK qualified mountain leader & medic who fly out with the team, plus a highly experienced local crew. The package includes flights, hotels, all camping equipment, meals, permits and more.
This is an Open Challenge so not everyone on the trip will be taking part for Macmillan and may be fundraising for other great causes.

Event Accessibility
This Kilimanjaro Trek is graded as tough. You will be waking up early in the mornings and trekking for long distances each day, so ensuring that you have a good level of fitness and stamina before you depart is key. You will trek through different eco-systems on your ascent up the mountain, on overgrown forest paths, moorland, rocky trail and scree.
Your challenge will be led by an experienced Action Challenge leader. Our leaders are selected for their experience, knowledge, enthusiasm, sensitivity and sense of humour, and will ensure that your trip runs smoothly. You will also be accompanied by an Action Challenge doctor, who will be carrying a fully stocked medical kit in case of any emergency. They will carry out daily health checks, and the re-assurance of their presence should allow you to focus on, and enjoy your challenge!
The pace will always be slow, steady and manageable. A slow and manageable pace is a key part of good, safe acclimatisation. Your action challenge leader, uk medic and head local guide will together decide the best pace for the group. Remember there’ll always also be time to stop and take in the views, eat a snack or change a layer.
For questions regarding accessibility at this event please contact the event organisers.
