Nationwide Building Society and Macmillan have been working together for over 27 years, making the partnership one of Macmillan’s longest.

Incredible fundraising achievements

During our long partnership, Nationwide employees and members have raised more than £9.5 million, which has gone towards improving the lives of people living with cancer.

Nationwide employees raise vital funds through support of many fundraising events, most notably World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Traditionally branches and admin centres host Coffee Mornings to raise money for people living with cancer. All funds raised through World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will also be restricted to fund Macmillan grants to help people in immediate financial need.

Direct support for people living with cancer

Nationwide and Macmillan are aware of the financial impact of cancer and the role the financial sector can play in supporting people living with cancer.

That’s why in 2015 we worked together to develop, train and implement a Specialist Support Team, aimed at assisting Nationwide’s more vulnerable members, particularly those living with cancer. This pioneering service is designed to provide free, tailored and confidential support. 

The relationship between Macmillan and Nationwide works both ways, so that the Specialist Support Team can refer members to the Macmillan Support Line for further emotional, financial or clinical support.
