Adam Uttley

Interim Chief Financial Officer

Adam is the interim head of our finance, legal and governance, and risk and audit functions. The team play a central operational role delivering a high level of support to staff ensuring the smooth running of Macmillan, as well as providing a strong focus on good governance, process improvement and achieving value for money.

Adam began his career within the finance team at Imperial College London, where he qualified as a chartered management accountant (ACMA), and led finance teams across various parts of the organisation, including the business school and its commercial activities arm. After Imperial, Adam moved into the private sector with BT and BMI Healthcare, before taking up a finance director role at Brakes Group, a £3 billion European foodservice business. His last role before Macmillan was as the Group CFO of Fresh Direct Group, a joint venture between Brakes, Bain Capital, and a fast-growing family business. He helped bring the businesses together, put in processes and disciplines, culminating in a sale to a US company.

Macmillan is an organisation close to Adam’s heart with a number of his family members affected by cancer. He is delighted to join Macmillan at such an exciting time and hopes he can bring his experience to help the organisation rise to the challenges ahead within the charity sector.

Adam lives in Hemel Hempstead with his wife Liz, and daughters Lexi (6), and Georgie (4). Outside of family life Adam enjoys travelling (the planning of it), and is a keen golfer with a handicap of five. He also has a passion for sustainable energy, including electric cars.
