Elspeth Atkinson

Director of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

Elspeth joined Macmillan in 2005 and is responsible for leading service and external affairs teams in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. She oversees the development and delivery of tailored strategies for each country, supporting and improving an existing range of services, and developing new ones to help meet the needs of people affected by cancer. She also leads on raising awareness of our work, as well as influencing policy by working with the three devolved governments.

Before Macmillan, Elspeth worked in economic development and planning for most of her career. This included a spell as Head of Rural Operations at Scottish Enterprise and several roles at the Scottish Development Agency. Prior to joining us, she was Head of Economic Development at Edinburgh City Council, where she was involved in establishing the Winter Festivals, regeneration of the waterfront and planning economic strategies for the city.

Elspeth was delighted to join Macmillan as she had been a volunteer and supporter for many years. She is keen to share her skills and experience to help reach everyone who needs us, and make sure every penny we are given is spent effectively and gets the greatest impact. Outside of work Elspeth enjoys travelling around Argyll and the Isles and Italy.
