About the awards
Since 2012, the Macmillan Professionals Excellence Awards have celebrated the dedication, innovation, and compassion of those improving cancer care across the UK — from pioneering new ways of working to delivering exceptional everyday support.
Award categories
We have five categories that reflect the priorities of our strategy:
Service Innovator
Recognising those who introduce new or enhance existing services, driving positive and lasting change in cancer care.
Equity Champion
Recognising those who actively reduce inequities in cancer care, ensuring everyone has access to the best possible support.
Rising Star
Celebrating early-career professionals who show exceptional promise and a strong commitment to transforming cancer care for the future.
Community Impact
Recognising those working with and within communities to raise awareness and improve outcomes for people affected by cancer, with a focus on supporting people who are under-served or experiencing deprivation. Supported by Abbott
Whatever It Takes
Recognising outstanding individuals who embody Macmillan’s values of heart, strength, and ambition - always going above and beyond to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
This award has two subcategories:
- Vital Support – for individuals in any role who provide emotional, practical or community-based support – without needing clinical registration.
- Clinical Expertise – for those in registered or specialist clinical roles who deliver, lead or innovate in the provision of cancer care and support.
