Robust evidence is fundamental to Macmillan’s ways of working. It will allow us to know what models of care work best for patients and will equip us to influence statutory partners, politicians and policy makers. It will also enable us to forge new partnerships and to inspire people to work with us.
Macmillan’s ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same. The scale of the challenge means that Macmillan will need to work differently.
Instead of plugging shortfalls in cancer care provision through funding individual posts and services we will think of new ideas, prove they are effective, and then work with the NHS, local authorities, and other partners to sustain and replicate them. We will also focus on redesigning whole systems of care so that they deliver better and more cost effective patient outcomes and experience.
