Stomach endoscopy - image description

The illustration shows a person having an endoscopy. It shows the top half of a body, above the waist. The gullet (oesophagus) and stomach are shown inside the body. The gullet is shown as a long tube that runs from the back of the mouth and throat, down through the chest area to the upper tummy (abdomen). Here it joins the upper part of the stomach. The lower part of the stomach is joined to the small bowel which is shown as a long tube running from the stomach down to the bottom of the image. The illustration shows a long, thin tube (endoscope) going into the mouth, over the tongue and down the throat through the gullet. The end of the endoscope is in the stomach. There is a light at the end of the endoscope, inside the stomach.
