Founded in 1998 to keep cancer at the top of the political agenda, the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cancer brings together MPs and Peers to help improve cancer services. The APPG website is hosted by Macmillan Cancer Support, who also provide the Secretariat to the Group.
The APPGC hosted a parliamentary reception on 6 July in Parliament.
The event was very well attended by MPs, Peers and numerous members of the cancer community. Attendees heard speeches from a formidable cast of speakers, including Ciarán Devane (Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support), David Cook (a cancer survivor), Paul Burstow MP (Minister for Care Services) and Professor Sir Mike Richards (National Cancer Director).
Chair of the APPGC, John Baron MP, updated attendees on progress made since the publication of the Group’s Report into cancer inequalities and gave details of this year’s Britain Against Cancer (BAC) conference|.
Please contact the Group’s Secretariat (email JAdams-Strump@macmillan.org.uk|) if you have any queries about this year's BAC conference or the APPGC’s work.
