Card Factory has been a partner of Macmillan since 2006, with support increasing substantially in the last three years. Through the sales of Christmas cards and creative fundraising activities, Card Factory is on target to have raised a total of £2 million by July.
Fundraising drives such as the 2008 ‘Match our Million’ campaign demonstrates the retail store’s commitment to Macmillan. It challenged Card Factory’s customers to match Card Factory’s first donation of £1 million by donating loose change from their own purchases.
Furthermore, in April 2009 Card Factory launched a competition for children to design a coffee mug for the chance to win £1,000 for their school to spend on arts and crafts materials. A panel selected their favourite design, which was printed as a limited edition coffee mug and sold in stores nationwide in the run up to Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Following this success, in July 2009 Card Factory gave customers the chance to drive away a brand new car in Racing Green, known as the Macmillan Mini.
Customers and staff across all 600 UK stores take part in an annual raffle, which raised more than £65,000 in 2011 alone. Card Factory is hoping to raise another £360,000 for people affected by cancer this year.
Chief Executive, Richard Hayes, said: 'Card Factory is delighted to be working with the Macmillan team. Our mutually beneficial partnership goes from strength to strength and we are very keen to raise awareness of how Macmillan can help people every step of the way throughout their cancer journey.'
