So much has happened since last year’s Volunteer Conference and Awards. We have launched a new brand and organisational strategy to ensure that, together, we will achieve our mission to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can. This spring, at our fifth annual Volunteer Conference and Awards, we'll share the crucial role that volunteers play in our future – and we’d like you to join us.
Taking place at the end of Volunteers’ Week, on 7-8 June at London’s Heathrow Park Inn, the Volunteer Conference and Awards will explain our future direction and the important role that you, our amazing volunteers, will play to achieve it. We will also celebrate the phenomenal contributions that volunteers around the country are already making to help people with cancer find their best way through.
Over two days, you will hear keynote speakers, including Macmillan’s Chief Executive and Volunteering Director, explain how our new direction will help us reach everyone at their time of need. You will also hear powerful stories from fellow volunteers, and people living with cancer, to illustrate the enormous impact volunteering has on lives.
You will also be wowed by two amazing exhibitions. The first showcases our future organisational direction, while the second will give you the opportunity to meet the staff, partners and volunteer teams who help us to bring our vision to life. We also have a range of workshops to help you understand and maximise the impact of your role as a volunteer.
Last year’s Conference chair, Liam De Roe, a volunteer and energetic fundraiser who sits on the UK Volunteer Forum, tells us what makes the event so special.
‘The conference provides the opportunity to hear, first-hand from our speakers, about what Macmillan has done for people living with cancer,’ he says. ‘It’s also a chance for volunteers to learn what Macmillan plans to do in the future, and how volunteers will be involved to achieve these objectives. It’s a great chance for people to network with other volunteers, too. If you attend, you won’t be disappointed.’

The Macmillan Volunteer Awards ceremony is a highlight of the yearly event. It’s an opportunity to celebrate our UK award winners, and to recognise the extraordinary contribution of everyone who volunteers their time to support Macmillan and people living with cancer. It’s always emotional, so don’t forget your tissues.
To apply for a spot at the Volunteer Conference and Awards, simply visit the Volunteer Conference website, enter your details and preferences and then click ‘apply’. Do hurry, though, as applications close at 9am on 23 April 2019.
Please note, this event is likely to be very popular. If we are oversubscribed, we may need to select attendees from a pool of applicants. If you are successful in your application, we will contact you to let you know by 3 May 2019. In the meantime, please help us spread the word about the conference by telling any volunteers you know to apply for a place today.
