Our partnership with P&O Cruises

P&O Cruises have been supporting Macmillan since 2013 and in this time have raised an incredible amount for people living with cancer. They are on track to hit £2 million in 2018.

Fundraising takes place on their fleet of seven cruise ships with crew and passengers all getting on board to support the partnership. They take part in a range of activities and events such as regular coffee mornings, deck challenges, crew talent shows and auctions which include unique keepsakes like signed navigational charts.

Staff at the head office in Southampton also support our partnership, taking part in our annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and tackling a range of Challenge Events. One of the local projects to benefit from the funds raised by head office staff is the Macmillan Healing Garden at Southampton General Hospital. Thanks to their efforts, people affected by cancer and their families now have a tranquil place where they can enjoy some peace and quiet together during treatment.

In addition to all the fantastic fundraising activity, a number of cruises have also been kindly donated as prizes for Macmillan’s prestigious social events, raffles and lottery.

Partnership Manager at Macmillan, Sally Hill said, ‘We’re delighted that P&O Cruises is raising vital funds and awareness of Macmillan among staff and passengers. The need for support has never been greater as by 2020 almost 1 in 2 people will get cancer at some point in their lives. By working with us, P&O Cruises is helping us to make sure that people get the support they need to face one of the toughest fights of their lives.'
