John Pearson

Executive Director of Cancer Support Operations

John is responsible for service delivery in the UK, bringing services directly to people with cancer, as well as through partnerships with NHS Trusts and local authorities.

He influences Macmillan strategy, external policy and the design and delivery of our services to ensure cancer care and support meets the needs of people living with cancer.

John's strategy

John is passionate about bringing to life Macmillan’s ambition to deliver truly integrated support. He achieves this by providing joined-up services to help people with cancer find their best way through, no matter when and how they access our support.

Career and credentials

John began his career at Mobil in New Zealand, before returning to the UK and working for BP. He has also worked for many organisations in the private sector, such as EE and Santander. Working in consumer-facing positions, he was responsible for understanding the needs of the customer and meeting those needs through delivery.

Before joining Macmillan in February 2016, John was Chief Operating Officer at the Royal Voluntary Service, where he was responsible for helping the organisation develop and implement a corporate strategy and structure.

The non-work stuff

John and his wife are long-term supporters of Macmillan, combining their love of sport and travel with raising money for our charity.

By taking part in marathons, climbing Kilimanjaro and cycling through Madagascar, they will have raised an amazing £200,000 for Macmillan by the end of 2018.
