Highlights of 2025
We want to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the 54th Macmillan Charity Raceday on Saturday 14 June 2025. We are delighted to announce that over the course of the weekend we raised an incredible £400,000 and counting towards Macmillan's work supporting people living with cancer in Yorkshire.
For over half a century, York Racecourse has worked in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to help raise vital funds for people living with cancer. In 2025 the partnership celebrated raising over £11 million for Macmillan Cancer Support and the event continues to evolve with lots of ways for you to get involved in fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support in the lead-up to and during the June racing weekend.
It is a wonderful family day out raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and services on Yorkshire. Over the weekend we are joined by over 100 volunteers involved in bucket collections, selling raffle tickets, and generating awareness of how you and your loved ones can get support, hosting two fundraising lunches, and the leading charity race – The Ride of Their Lives.
Alongside this, our partners at York Racecourse donate proceeds from the day to Macmillan Cancer Support and racegoers can further directly support Macmillan in the knowledge that just by attending Raceday, not only are they raise funds for Macmillan, but they are also enabling a member of the wider Macmillan community, whether they be a nurse, carer or volunteer, to enjoy a day at York Racecourse.
Watch out for updates regarding the 55th Macmillan Charity Raceday. It promises to be a wonderful day.

Thank you
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported The Macmillan Charity Raceday over the years. Thanks to our generous supporters, we raised over £400,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in 2026.
By attending the event at York Racecourse. Your support is helping us reach more people with cancer, wherever they are. Through partnerships with trusted local organisations, we're raising awareness of cancer signs and symptoms, encouraging screening, and connecting people with vital support.
In West Yorkshire, we’re supporting Calderdale Cancer Awareness, run by Halifax Opportunities Trust, to normalise conversations about cancer and empower people to get the care and support they need within the diverse communities of Packward. It is an area with over 60 languages spoken and a historically low uptake of national cancer screening programmes, leading to late cancer diagnoses. Winner of our 2026 Macmillan Professionals Excellence Award for Community Impact, Calderdale Cancer Awareness is playing a crucial role to improve cancer experience and outcomes for everyone.
How the Macmillan Charity Raceday helps people living with cancer in Yorkshire
This event has raised £11 million pounds to date and has enabled us to help people living with cancer with financial, physical and emotional support, just like Adam from North Yorkshire.
Diagnosed with throat cancer in October 2022, Adam's diagnosis came as a shock but was helped by Macmillan throughout his treatment and recovery.
Adam says: "I had brilliant support from the Macmillan nurses who were so kind and caring. They looked after me on my hospital visits.
“I was put through the system quickly, and all the staff I met were fantastic, including the Macmillan staff. When I had radiotherapy all the staff in the team were really caring and I built up a good relationship with them. I was very well looked after.”
