Macmillan helps to develop and support health, social care and information professionals working in cancer and palliative care.
The Professional Resources Programme produces practical, evidence-based resources for Macmillan postholders working in cancer and palliative care. Resources are developed in accordance with our quality framework to ensure they are consistent, reliable and run complementary to formal training and existing clinical guidelines. The involvement of both professionals and patients is an integral part of the framework.
Our work to date includes a series of multi-media breathlessness resources. The latest in the series, undertaken in collaboration with The Institute of Cancer Research, is Relax and Breathe. This relaxation CD and audiotape is for health professionals to use with patients and for patients to use independently to help self manage their symptoms. Order it at be.Macmillan.org.uk|.
Our education programme helps Macmillan postholders become leaders in their field through ongoing development and training. Macmillan works with you to identify your individual needs and provides ongoing support.
These grants are available to Macmillan professionals or groups who want to gain specialist skills, (including non-cancer specialists), which require funding. To find out more and apply for this year's grants please visit Learn Zone|.
