Stomach endoscopy - image description

The image shows the human body from the head down to the lower waist. Inside the gullet (oesophagus) and stomach are shown. The gullet is shown as a long tube that runs from the back of the mouth and throat, down through the chest area to the upper abdomen (tummy). Here it joins the upper part of the stomach. The lower part of the stomach is joined to the small bowel which is shown as a long tube running from the stomach down to the bottom of the image. Coming from outside and then into the mouth is the endoscope. This is a long thin tube that goes from the mouth and runs down the throat the inside of the gullet. The light and camera at end of the endoscope are sitting inside the stomach.
