Melanie Armstrong

Interim Executive Director of Corporate Resources

Melanie heads up Corporate Resources which includes our finance, legal and governance, and risk and audit functions. The team play a central operational role delivering a high level of support to staff ensuring the smooth running of Macmillan, as well as providing a strong focus on good governance, process improvement and achieving value for money.

Melanie, a qualified chartered accountant, began her career with KPMG and went on to have a successful career with Cadbury Schweppes in a variety of senior finance roles over 18 years. In 2010 Melanie decided to take her career in a different direction and follow her values with a move into the not for profit sector. First with London Business School. We were delighted when she joined us here at Macmillan in 2015 as Director of Planning and Financial Control, before taking on her current role in April 2016. She relishes the challenge of helping to shape such a fast growing organisation as Macmillan for the long term and enjoys the satisfaction of knowing all your efforts will help Macmillan to make a real difference to people affected by cancer.

Melanie lives in Amersham with her husband and son, both of whom are sports mad and so she is a frequent spectator at different sporting events. She also enjoys getting out and enjoying the beautiful Chilterns countryside.
