The Macmillan Speech and Language Therapy Head and Neck team for North Cumbria has gained recognition for its work.
In March, the team was named Productive Team of the Year at Cumbria Partnership Foundation NHS Trust’s annual Spotlight Awards.
This particular award highlights a team that is ‘productive and efficient in everything they do, who demonstrate integrated working and who strive for patient care and service improvements’.
Macmillan Principal SLT Lorna Gamberini had been working on her own until 2011, when Macmillan funded two three-year project posts: Judy Lightfoot as a full-time Macmillan SLT Assistant and Kate Corrieri as a part-time Macmillan Specialist SLT.
The plan was to test the model of a Macmillan SLT team within the North Cumbria Head and Neck Cancer team. Judging by this award, the model is working!
