The North Ayrshire Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service has scooped one of this year’s North Ayrshire Provost’s Civic Pride Awards.
The service’s volunteers were recognised for their talent, hard work and commitment to the community.
‘We’re delighted our volunteers have been recognised for their wonderful work,’ says Irene Wilson, Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service Development Manager for NHS Ayrshire and Arran. ‘They have first-hand experience of living with cancer – from first diagnosis to after treatment. They offer a friendly smile and a listening ear, as well as information and support.’
The service, based at Saltcoats Library, is a partnership between NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Macmillan Cancer Support, North Ayrshire Council and the voluntary sector.
