The brand new for 2027 North York Moors Mighty Hike explores the beautiful Yorkshire Coastline on the east coast of England. You'll begin your Mighty Hike in the beautiful town of Whitby, with views of the iconic Whitby Abbey before walking out through the Moors and along the coastline. Following your hike through quintessential English towns like Robin Hood's Bay, you'll return back to Whitby to finish your Mighty Hike.

About the North York Moors Mighty Hike
The North York Moors Mighty Hike is one of the most beautiful, and least hilly, routes in the series. You’ll start in the iconic Whitby before walking along through the Moors and close to the coast of Yorkshire, through beautiful villages before returning to finish back in Whitby.
Hike solo and meet friends along the way or sign up with a team of friends and family for a memorable day together.

When and where does the North York Moors Mighty Hike start and finish?
Your Mighty Hike starts at Abbey Farm Showfield, Whitby, YO22 4JR, where you’ll join your fellow hikers and get ready to take those first steps together.
Both the full and half marathon events finish back at Abbey Farm Showfield, Whitby, YO22 4RJ.
Full marathon waves set off every 20 minutes from 06:30, while half marathon waves start every 20 minutes from 09:10.
Whichever distance you’re taking on, you’ll be surrounded by fellow Mighty Hikers sharing the challenge — with that brilliant finish-line moment waiting at the end. -
What is the North York Moors Mighty Hike route?
Both distances will start and finish in the beautiful seaside town of Whitby and key sights on the route will include Whitby Abbey, Robin Hood’s Bay and the beautiful views of the Yorkshire coastline and moors.
Please note that routes can change following health and safety inspections. If anything important changes, we’ll make sure you know on the day. -
What are the route highlights for the North York Moors Mighty Hike?
This is a new Mighty Hike that we are delighted to share with you. The North York Moors house some stunning scenery which you'll explore during your hike. This includes:
- Whitby Abbey - a dramatic 7th centry monastic ruin in the historic seaside town of Whitby - you may even recognise it as the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula
- Robin Hood's Bay - a picturesque old fishing village in North Yorkshire, with stunning coastal views and an iconic heritage.

Where should I stay for the North York Moors Mighty Hike?
For a nice easy start to the day, we recommend staying in or around Whitby, just a short journey from Abbey Farm Showfield — giving you less travelling and a little more time before you join your fellow hikers at the start.

How do I get there?
We recommend walking, travelling by car or bike for this Mighty Hike. Abbey Farm Showfield is very close to the centre of Whitby so for anyone staying locally, it's a very easy morning. If you are travelling by car, the parking for both the full and half marathon can be found at the start line, with the address being:

Planning to use public transport? Check the local bus routes before you travel, as services may not run in time for your start or finish.

What if my Mighty Hike gets cancelled?
If we ever need to cancel your Mighty Hike, we know how disappointing that will be after all the training, fundraising and excitement leading up to the big day.
We’ll make sure you know what’s happening.
