Jonjo's story

Hi I’m Jonjo, one of our senior designers at Macmillan. When I was 23 I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

My life was thrown upside down and I had to undergo a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Luckily I’m now in complete remission.

A push in the right direction

After treatment, I decided to set up my own charity: Bpositive. I wanted to help people in a similar position to me, but first I needed a financial leg up.

Getting a grant was my first personal connection with Macmillan, and it was an amazing one. I saw how fantastic they were to help charities like mine who are only ever trying to help people too.

Working with the best

Since setting up my charity, I now work for Macmillan. And it was a role I couldn’t wait to apply for. Being here and part of Macmillan is so inspiring.

What has always struck me about Macmillan is their friendliness. Now that I’m here I know that friendliness runs throughout the organisation, the people and the services.

Extra activities

I also love helping out at Macmillan events I would encourage everyone to do something for Macmillan. Whether you volunteer, fundraise or campaign, Macmillan will support you.
