Macmillan Support Services

Information and support centres

*Currently offered telephone appointments only due to COVID 19* Macmillan Support Services include an Information and Support service, a Befriending Service and offer Bereavement support to people by any cause of death. All services are accessible to adults affected by cancer or a life limiting illness, including carer’s living in North Tyneside. Anyone may contact the service for information. We also provide a range of groups and events. These include a Drop In, Health and Wellbeing sessions, Living well with Cancer course, HOPE course, Walk and Talk groups and Craft Groups. For Befriending or Bereavement Support a referral from a health professional is required. On receipt of the referral a member of the team will visit the person within their own home. They will then identify the most appropriate support based on their individual needs at the time of the visit. Each person who would benefit from someone to talk to on a one to one basis will be allocated an appropriately trained and supervised volunteer. Volunteers offer a supportive, confidential and non-judgmental relationship, which can assist the person through a difficult time.
