£10 million. That’s how much Boots UK has raised for Macmillan since we first teamed up in 2009. It’s a fantastic milestone. And we’re delighted that this partnership is continuing to make a difference to people’s lives.
Our colleagues at Boots have really got stuck into fundraising for Macmillan. In fact, £5.5m of this £10m total has been raised by them alone. They’ve run marathons, walked thousands and thousands of miles, held hundreds of coffee mornings and over 60 colleagues even climbed Kilimanjaro. On top of this, Boots have also sold our merchandise in their stores, supported many community based fundraising events, and donated proceeds from products.
What’s more, all of this amazing fundraising is only one part of the partnership. We’re also working together to provide cancer support in their stores. This involves training pharmacists to answer questions about cancer. And we’ve trained many beauty advisers to help people with the physical side effects of treatments.
Oonagh has worked on the Macmillan and Boots partnership from the beginning. She says, ‘Macmillan is such a fantastic charity and I am so proud to have been involved in this work. I think I’ll always support Macmillan now. And it’s been really great to see the partnership go from strength to strength.’
We couldn’t agree more, Oonagh.
